How the Medjugorje Naša majka museum helped students find the message of Peace

by in Novosti

Slavko Barbarić’s school in Čitluk hosted the final activity of the “Peace Education” project organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of HNŽ and PRO – Budućnost (USAID).

Support for the project was also expressed by the director of the Secondary School Dr. Slavko Barbarić – Čitluk, prof. Adela Škutor. The coordinator of the project is professional associate, pedagogue Doris Vlašić.

The aim of the program was to improve students’ attitudes, knowledge and skills for building peace. This year’s program was completed by third-grade students with the consent of their parents, with assistant principal Sanda Sušac, pedagogue Josip Primorac and computer science professor Anamaria Rozić.

After the final activity at the school, they decided to visit the newly opened Naša Majka Museum in Medjugorje (facebook: Naša Majka, instagram: nasa.majka.galerija), and the message that the students chose as their own throughout this year is: “There is no path to peace. Peace is the way”.

Namely, the museum talks about the history of apparitions in Medjugorje, and in the very introduction about the main characteristics of our Municipality Brotnjo, about Medjugorje seers, witnesses and spiritual fruits of Medjugorje.

Father Jozo Zovko and brother Slavko Barbarić occupied special places in the museum, their rich biographies and activities in the small village of Kraljice Mira. This museum can also be called ‘Međugorje in miniature’, because we have all the information about the apparitions of the Queen of Peace and their fruits in one place, and it is located across the street from the Church of St. James, more precisely at the address of Pope John Paul II, 22b, Međugorje.

Our Mother is actually a digital museum, which means that all the information is on the screens, shown through video and vocal recordings. At the end, an art gallery awaits you where you can enjoy the works of our local artists.

Gabrijela Čarapina, the manager, went through the museum with cheerful schoolchildren and their entourage and explained the whole story to them, and everyone together with a smile, satisfaction and new knowledge left the premises of this beautiful place, a place that we should all visit in order to get to know the events and graces more deeply. Medjugorje!
